I have a pretty busy schedule, so I don’t have a lot of time to sew. When I do get a chance to sit down at my machine, I want something quick and easy that doesn’t take too much brain power – especially if I’m sewing for practical purposes. I loved this pattern for my girls (I’ll sew for my boys one day!). This was my first sleeve insertion and it was soooo quick and easy. I was able to whip up 2 tops in no time at all. Unfortunately, the top came out a lot shorter than expected. I followed the pattern lines for the size 6 which was the smallest size on the pattern, so I know I didn’t accidently cut the wrong size. It was just too short. To compensate, I shirred the bottom of the shirt using Sandi Henderson’s tutorial. (Just look in the right hand column of her website and click on Shir Madness.)
I also found the shorts to be way too long between the waist and crotch area. It makes the shorts kind of balloon out. I didn’t make any adjustments to the shorts because I figured the girls will probably grow into them. But if I make the shorts again, I will shorten that problem area as well as lengthen the legs. Take a look at more pictures here.
