When I was a little girl, I read a saying somewhere that said, “We were all born originals, don’t die a carbon copy”. I don’t know who said it or if I even quoted it correctly, but now that I’m older, the saying sticks to me like glue. Growing up, conformity was definitely not one of my strong points, but oddly enough, as I’ve gotten older, I’ve succumbed to complacency and find myself stuck in the rut of routine, and I need a change.
As a mother of 6 little ones, I’m amazed at how quickly time flies. It’s hard to believe I graduated high school almost 2 decades ago. (Where did the time go? ) Wasn’t it just yesterday that I had a dream in my heart as big as the sun and a no holds bar plan to achieve it? Time is funny that way I guess.
Well, anyway,…Polkadot Soup to the rescue! I needed a creative outlet to offset my daily routine and to remind me that there’s more to life than diapers and dishes and that domesticity is not a ball and chain.
I believe that our Heavenly Father gifts us with different abilities and talents to add variety and spice to life. Why we choose to sit on them as time goes by and pass the torch of responsibility to others, I’ll never know, but I plan to do something about it. This is my blog of accountability. Whatever I can do to live more creatively, I want to do and possibly encourage others to do the same. Maybe I should have called this blog ”Life is Too Short for Regrets”. Nah…too long.
